Former Edmonds councilmember, mayoral candidate Mauri Moore endorses Earling

Edmonds mayoral candidate Dave Earling’s campaign Monday announced that former Edmonds City Councilmember Mauri Moore — who unsuccessfully ran against former Mayor Gary Haakenson in 2007 — has endorsed Earling for mayor.

Earling is facing incumbent Mayor Mike Cooper, who was appointed to fill out the remainder of Haakenson’s term when he resigned last year, and former Edmonds City Councilmember Roger Hertrich, in the August primary election.

“Dave Earling is a natural leader and statesman,” Moore said. “He is exactly what Edmonds needs right now.  His past service on the City Council and on many local and regional boards has proven the positive impact he brings to the community.  I am grateful he is running for mayor of Edmonds because we need his leadership.

“Gary Haakenson and Mauri Moore endorsing me, in addition to former (Edmonds) Mayors Barb Fahey and Larry Naughten, sends a clear signal that people with experience running Edmonds want leadership back in City Hall,” Earling said.

In addition to previously serving on the Edmonds City Council, Moore currently is a trustee at both Edmonds Community College and Antioch University in Seattle. She is also a past president of the Trustees Association of Washington Community and Technical Colleges.
