City of Edmonds officials and representatives of Goodman Real Estate, which will build the largest-ever mixed-use development in Edmonds, broke ground for the project Thursday afternoon.

The Edmonds Way Apartments project planned for the northwest corner of 232nd Street Southwest and the Edmonds Way, “is a very significant project for the City of Edmonds,” Mayor Mike Cooper said. “We are thrilled Goodman Real Estate has decided to make such a significant investment in our community. It identifies Edmonds as a great place to put major projects like this together. It also signifies we will be a leader in the journey back from our regional and national recessions.”

The Edmonds Way Apartments will include 89 residential living units and over 3,000 square feet of ground-level commercial space. Two buildings with three and four levels will be built on the 1.8-acre site. The stormwater runoff from the project will be managed entirely by installing a rain garden and infiltration system.

“This project is being built in compliance with the City of Edmonds’ new stormwater management code,” Cooper said. “The developers have been enthusiastic in embracing these new rules, which are designed to protect Puget Sound water quality.”
