The Edmonds-Woodway High School courtyard was a sea of EWHS green football jerseys Friday night as the EWHS Athletic Booster Club held a back-to-school membership barbecue for athletes in all sports, and their parents.
Mayor Mike Cooper dropped by to wish the players well, noting that he is a graduate of Edmonds High School (prior to the merger of Edmonds and Woodway high schools) and was a wrestler there, and that all three of his children attended E-W.
Also present were many aspiring Warriors, younger players participating in the Warrior Junior Football program, which starts Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Shoreline Stadium.
A couple of important dates to note:
– The EWHS football team opens its season Friday, Sept. 2, vs. Monroe at Edmonds Stadium, located on the EWHS campus. The entire community is invited to turn out and support the Warriors. Kick off is 5 p.m.
The EW Athletic Booster Club hosts its eighth annual salmon barbecue prior to the 8 p.m. EWHS-Meadowdale game Friday, Sept. 16. Enjoy fresh grilled salmon, Caesar salad, dessert and a beverage — and for the less discerning palate, hot dogs — all for just $10. The food is donated, so all proceeds benefit the booster club. Food will be served from 5-7:30 p.m. just outside the football stadium.
Hats off to the whole booster organization and to John Gradwohl the EWHS football coach in particular. John has created a first rate program and his feeder program he started this year is incredible. Great job boosters!
