Edmonds-based European travel guru Rick Steves said Thursday he’s giving $1 million to the Edmonds Center for the Arts, Seattle P-I.com reported.
A spokesman for Steves was quoted as saying the donation represents what he would have paid in taxes if the Bush-era tax cuts not been enacted. You can see Steves’ complete statement here.
Let’s hope that Mr. Steves outstanding example of generosity starts the trend that he desires. This will also very likely put Edmonds on the map!
Rick Steves is a real man of principle. Edmonds was lucky to have him even before he did this.
Wonderful! Thank-you Mr. Steves!
Also thank-you Joe M. And the Board of the ECA as well as all the volunteers!
This is not the first local generous action as Rick Steves and Anne Steves also donated over a million a few years ago for Pathways for Women, a very successful womens’ shelter.
Awesome!
