From the blog Yankees Talk comes an interview with Austin “Bubba” Jones, the 2011 Edmonds-Woodway High School graduate who was drafted in the seventh round by the New York Yankees in June. Here’s how the article by writer Matt Filippi starts:
“In the seventh round of the 2011 MLB Amateur Draft, the Yankees took a high school first baseman by the name of Austin ‘Bubba’ Jones. Jones grew up in Seattle, Washington and was regarded as one of the best bats out of the Northwest in this year’s draft class. Bubba just signed recently and is currently playing for the GCL Yankees. He was able to take a little bit of time out of his busy schedule to answer a few questions.”

A 6-1, 205-lb. first baseman, Jones is playing in the Rookie Gulf Coast League for the Yankees this summer. So far Jones has appeared in seven games and carries a .227 batting average. You can follow Jones’ progress on the Gulf Coast League website.
