My Edmonds Food: Epulo, American Brewing plan Beer and Food Celebration

By Lara Alexander

Epulo and American Brewing team up for dinner

Edmonds’ Main Street bistro Epulo is teaming up with another Edmonds gem, American Brewing Company, for a Beer and Food Celebration. Hosted at Epulo, five courses will be paired with beer, for $65 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are being taken now for the dinner, which will take place on Wednesday,  Sept. 21 from 6:30 pm. 425-678-8680.

The first course will be “Drunken Cheese Curds,” made of local Beechers cheese curds soaked in American Blonde for 14 days. The second course is a crab & shrimp tomato gazpacho with American Blonde. The main course is a braised chicken served with Break Away IPA. Fourth course brings Manila clams & chorizo with Eds Red beer, tomato, herbs, white wine and garlic butter served with Eds Red for drinking. The meal will finish with an oatmeal stout bread pudding accompanied with Oatmeal Stout Ice-Cream and served with  Oatmeal Stout Ale.

Main Street Burgers opens in one week

Main Street Burgers, Edmonds newest hamburger joint, just announced its opening date to its Facebook fans this week. After spending the summer preparing, Main Street Burgers will be opening its doors on Sept. 8 and plans to host a Grand Opening Party on Sept. 11 during the Edmonds Car Show. “We are in the process of hiring staff,” said manager and co-owner Joe Bellingham earlier this week. Main Street Burgers will be serving fresh-ground hamburgers on buns baked next door at the Edmonds Bakery, hand-cut fries and hand-dipped milkshakes. Perfect for a classic car show!

Excess produce welcome at food banks

If you grow vegetables in your back yard, it’s fairly likely that you have been trying to pawn extra zucchinis off on your neighbors this last week. If that is the case, you may find a more appreciative home for your excess zucchini, Swiss chard and herbs at your local food bank. Food banks rely largely on donations to operate and fresh foods are always welcomed.
