State Auditor’s Office says it was ‘contacted anonymously’ about Edmonds payroll policy

Here’s an update to the ongoing discussion about the State Auditor’s look into the City of Edmonds’ payroll policies. A spokeswoman for the Washington State Auditor’s Office on Monday confirmed, in response to an inquiry by My Edmonds News, that the state auditor is “looking at issues regarding compliance with City of Edmonds payroll policy as part of our regular audit.”

Communications Director Mindy Chambers stressed that the action is not defined as an investigation, but she did say that the office was “contacted by someone anonymously about this.”

No other details can be released as the action is ongoing, but the office plans to publish the audit report “within the next two months,” Chambers said.
