To highlight how art provides a healing environment for patients, visitors and staff, an artists reception from 7-9 p.m. Sept. 10 will be hosted by Swedish/Edmonds. Art from 20 local artists will be displayed for the tour and as part of a rotating art collection at the hospital.
“Art have long been recognized for its role in the healing process,” said David Jaffe, interim chief administrative officer at Swedish/Edmonds. “The art collection at Swedish/Edmonds is a result of the partnership between the hospital and the art community and the shared commitment to providing a comforting and enriching setting in the facility.”
Swedish has been integrating art as part of the healing environment since the Seattle art collection originated in the 1960s. Over 2,000 pieces exist in public spaces across its campuses. Funding comes from donations, gifts to the Art Endowment Fund, and a small percentage from the construction budgets of new projects and remodeling.
The same artists at the reception will also open up their galleries/studios for the Edmonds Art Studio Tour, Sept. 17-18. For more information about both events, visit edmondsartstudiotour.com
