Edmonds-based Cascade Symphony searching for rising stars

Talented pianists and violinists under age 13 are invited to apply for Cascade Symphony’s 2011-12 Rising Star Search, in which the winners will perform as soloists with the symphony at its Children’s Concert on Feb. 25, 2012. All audition materials must be postmarked by Nov. 1, 2011, and there is a on-refundable application fee of $10.

Applicants must complete the application found on the CSO website. In addition, they must submit a CD with their performance of the appropriate concerto movement listed below.

Pianists will perform the 1st movement of the Beethoven Piano Concerto No.1, Op. 15 in C Major, with cadenza.
Violinists will play the 1st movement of the Mozart Violin Concerto No. 3 in G Major, K. 216, with cadenza.

The performance must be uncut, unedited and unaccompanied. Finalists may be asked to audition in person, and winners will be notified by Dec. 15.

Winners must be available to rehearse with Cascade Symphony on Feb. 19, 2012 as well as for the performance on Feb. 25. The concert will be held at the Edmonds Center for the Arts.
