In the 2011-12 school year, 11 Edmonds public schools are participating in Rachel’s Challenge, a nationwide program that teaches and motivates students to make positive changes in the way they treat others. Rachel Scott was the first person killed April 20, 1999 at Columbine High School, and her family has shared her dream of starting a chain reaction of kindness and compassion through their organization, Rachel’s Challenge.
A 7 p.m. program tonight at Edmonds-Woodway High School will show adults how they can support the efforts of the students. In addition, Edmonds Elementary School will hold a 12:45 p.m. assembly on Tuesday, Nov. 1 geared toward the younger age group.
Rachel’s Challenge was made possible in the Edmonds School District through the support of the Hazel Miller Foundation and the Edmonds Public Schools Foundation.
