My Edmonds News had a chance to participate in part of Friday’s Veterans Day “Walk About” tour offered by Dale E. Hoggins, Edmonds Cemetery board member, and Betty Deebach Gaeng, Sno-Isle Genealogical Society and Alderwood Manor Heritage Association member. A hardy band of about 30 people braved the pouring rain to take the tour, which highlighted some of the 400 veterans interred at the cemetery dating back to the Civil War.
In this video segment, Hoggins and Gaeng talk about the late Don Meyring, who along with his brothers were war veterans and are buried in the cemetery. Don Meyring, who died in 2004, was well-known for his involvement in Little League and the Edmonds City Council voted to rename the Pine Street Park playfield “Meyring Field” in his honor.
