Edmonds-area sports roundup for Saturday

3A swimming
Anna Keane of Meadowdale won state titles in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events at the 3A swimming and diving championships in Federal Way Saturday. Keane finished the 50 free in 23.5 seconds and the 100 free in 50.62.

3A volleyball
Meadowdale earned its first-ever state volleyball trophy Saturday with a seventh-place finish in the 3A state tournament in Lacey. The Mavs defeated Kennewick 25-23, 25-21, 13-25 and 25-22, then went on to sweep Timberline 25-12, 26-24 and 25-19.

3A soccer
The Mavs defeated Bishop Blanchet 2-1 on a penalty kick to move on to the next round of the state soccer tournament. Meadowdale came from behind after being down 1-0 for most of the game, thanks to a corner kick by Rosalyn Stapleton that was knocked in by Kendall Raecker. Credit the penalty kicks by Hannah Shouse, Alyssa Navlet, Alisa Sagdahl and Emily Crichlow, plus the tough defense of goalie Ashley Routh clinch the game for the Mavs.
