PUD confirms power outage affects 1,500 in Westgate area — 400-plus still without

Snohomish County PUD crews are working to restore power to between 400-500 people in Edmonds’ Westgate neigborhood after an outage was reported around 7:30 p.m. Saturday night.

PUD spokesman Mike Thorpe said that 1,500 people were affected by the power outage. Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said the outage caused a traffic light to be out at Edmonds Way and 15th Avenue West (where the Shell Station is located, near Five Bistro) and a car went through the light and hit another car, resulting in a chain reaction accident. The accident didn’t appear to be too serious; no one was taken to the hospital as a result of the mishap, Hynes said.
