Text daily and help Edmonds-Woodway HS win Battle of Bands contest

If you can text, you can help Edmonds-Woodway High School’s band win the $10,000 Grand Prize in the Battle of the Bands contest for new instruments, uniforms and music, sponsored by The Rock Wood-fired Pizza & Spirits.

The Rock Wood-fired Pizza & Spirits started the Schools of The Rock, Battle of the Bands in 2007 as a way to give back to local community school music programs. The founders, Jay Gigandet and Don Bellis worked with their media partner, KZOK Classic Rock and the Bob Rivers morning show team to promote the concept, and starting this year the event is being run as a non-profit.

From now through Nov. 25, vote for E-W’s performance of “Forget You” by CeeLo Green by texting ROCK15 to 24300. One text is allowed per phone per day.

According to contest rules, the top 10 bands that receive the most votes will qualify for the final round of selection. During the week of Dec. 5, a panel of judges will review those bands on a scale of 1-10 for each of the following criteria: musical effect, performance fundamentals, technical ability and overall performance. The points from all judges will be tabulated, and the winners will be selected based on the total points awarded to each band. The band with the most points will win the grand prize.
