Four Warrior wrestlers finish as champions in weekend varsity tournaments

Edmonds-Woodway sent wrestlers to two varsity tournaments over the weekend and came away with a large group of individual place winners, including four champions.

At the 17-team Larry Brown Invitational in Fife, the Warriors finished fourth overall and had three champions.  Noah Cuzzetto, at 113 lbs, won his championship by a pin only 31 seconds into the first round. Also taking first for E-W were Matt Cuzzetto at 152 lbs and Zach Perez at 170 lbs Perez defeated team mate Marq Brown in the finals. Taking third place for the Warriors were Collin Natterstad, 160 lbs,  and  George Johanson, 285 lbs.

Down the road at the Scoop Invite at Jackson High School, Edmonds-Woodway finished sixth overall with six individual place winners including a championship from Kris Delaney, 220 lbs. Also scoring points for the Warriors were: second place Thomas Toki, 285 lbs; third place Blake Bendock-Yang, 126 lbs; third place Sam Song, 285 lbs; fourth place Jackson Fair, 106 lbs., and fourth place Jordan Barnes, 182 lbs.

On Monday night, the Warriors host the Meadowdale Mavericks at 7 p.m. in the Warrior Pit.
