The Regional Fire Authority Planning Committee exploring fire service consolidation in south Snohomish County will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the Ballinger Golf Course Clubhouse, 23000 Lakeview Dr., Mountlake Terrace.
Brier, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace, Mukilteo, Woodway and Snohomish County Fire Districts 1 and 7 formed the exploratory RFA Planning Committee in March 2010. Since then, the group made up of three elected officials from each jurisdiction has been gathering, analyzing and combining information from each agency on fire-service finances, budgets and operations. The planning process is expected to take at least two years and could, if deemed feasible, culminate in a public vote to create an RFA.
At the Feb. 1 meeting, the committee plans to hear a presentation on finances and reports from subcommittees working on level of service plans and communications.
The RFA Planning Committee meets the first Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. All meetings are open to the public. The meeting location rotates among participating jurisdictions and is posted on the RFA Planning Committee website: www.rfa-planning.org. Agendas, minutes and planning documents are also available online.
