The Edmonds-Woodway wrestling team opened their conference schedule with a big win at home over Cascade by a score of 51-24.
After Sam Song lost a 7-4 decision at 285 lbs in the opening match of the night, sophomores Jackson Fair and Noah Cuzzetto came back to earn first period pins, putting the Warriors in the lead. The meet stayed tight with Cascade closing to within six points after the Bruins 160 lbs wrestler Noah Johnson defeated Warrior Colin Natterstad by an 8-5 decision in a match that was hard fought to the final buzzer.
At 172 lbs, Marq Brown earned an 8-4 decision and the Warriors never looked back. Seniors Zach Perez, Jordan Barnes and Kris Delaney closed out the meet with first period pins for the Warriors.
Edmonds-Woodway, which is 4-1 for the season, travels to Kamiak for a dual meet Friday. and will host the Edmonds Invitational Tournament Saturday at EWHS.
