11 Edmonds-area schools honored for efforts to close the achievement gap

Congratulations to the following 11 schools in the Edmonds School District, which are receiving Washington State Achievement Awards —  an honor given to 275 schools statewide.

Earning Special Recognition for Closing the Achievement Gap are: Meadowdale High, Alderwood Middle, and Beverly, Brier, Chase Lake, Meadowdale, Seaview, and Spruce elementary schools; Special Recognition for Improvement is awarded to Edmonds Heights K-12; and Overall Excellence Multi-Level is being presented to Madrona Nongraded and Maplewood Parent Cooperative.

“Our work to reduce the achievement gap for students across our district is being acknowledged,” Edmonds Superintendent Nick Brossoit said. “The achievement awards are a testament to our efforts districtwide to provide individualized support to students at all academic levels. My thanks go to the students, staff, and families for their contributions, as well as our community in its support of our work.”
