‘Animal Planet’ host to appear at Edmonds Wildlife Habitat Demo Garden event Saturday

Television personality David Mizejewski – host and co-producer of “Backyard Habitat” on the Animal Planet television channel – will be the special guest in Edmonds Saturday at a winter celebration of the Wildlife Habitat Demo Garden, located at the Willow Creek Hatchery, 95 Pine St. (just off Highway 104).

Prior to Mizejewki’s appearance, the Edmonds Backyard Wildlife Habitat group will host a training class on participation in the Great Backyard Bird Count. In addition, a work party is scheduled with EBWH partners People for Puget Sound and the Washington Native Plant Society. All of the events are free.

Mizjewski has made numerous appearances on gardening and daily talk shows, including NBC’s “Weekend Today Show” and iVillage “Live,” HGTV’s “Gardening by the Yard,” and “The Martha Stewart Show.” He is a regular speaker at conservation, wildlife and gardening conferences and events, both nationally and locally, and is the author of Attracting Birds, Butterflies and Other Backyard Wildlife.

Here’s Saturday’s schedule:

9-9:30a.m.: Opening of the garden’s winter celebration/sign dedication

9 a.m.-1 p.m.: Garden work party begins (bring your gloves to help)

9:30 a.m.-noon: Great Backyard Bird Count Training with NOAA Scientist Alan Mearns

12:30pm-2:30pm: Meet & Greet David Mizejewski (get signed copies of his book)
