Locks of Love event has Edmonds ties

Stylist Mandy Hampton cuts Judy Robertson's hair while stepdaughter Melaine Robertson observes.

From our friends at Shoreline Area News comes a story about a hair salon in nearby Shoreline participating in a Locks of Love event benefiting cancer patients – and that also involved an Edmonds-Woodway High School student and her stepmother.

Two sets of mother-daughters participated in the Locks of Love for Dublin Dollars event at the James Alan Salon and Spa on Friday, January 26, 2012.
They got sponsors to donate to them and that money went to the Dublin Dollars, which raises money to help Shorecrest Band and Choir students go to Ireland for St. Patrick’s Day parades and events.
The James Alan Salon donated the cuts and provided the salon space for the event.
Judy Robertson has a friend in the band. She was getting tired of her long hair and was ready for a change.
Coincidentally, her stepdaughter Melaina Robertson, a student at Edmonds-Woodway High School, was doing a job shadow at James Alan.
“It’s perfect,” they all said. Judy got a style cut, Melaina got job shadow hours, Locks of Love got the hair, and Dublin Dollars got the sponsor money.
