Meadowdale High School has named Tim Rettmann as its new varsity girls tennis coach. He replaces Mark Schneider, who resigned from the girls coaching job to move out of the area, according to Meadowdale athletic director Chris Murphy.
Rettmann is a former tennis coach at both Pasco and North Central high schools and has also worked with numerous summer and youth outreach programs, Murphy said. Rettmann played tennis at Eastern Washington University from 1986-91, earning his teaching degree with endorsements in science.
“We will miss Mark; he has done a remarkable job with the girls program and has left a solid foundation for Tim,” Murphy added. “That said, I believe Tim has the tools to continue on a great tradition here at Meadowdale, and I look forward to working with him.”
Schneider also is the head coach of Meadowdale’s varsity boys tennis team, and it’s anticipated that he will return to coach the boys squad next fall, Murphy said.
The spring sports season begins Monday, Feb. 27, with the first home girls tennis match March 19.
