After two rounds of tryouts, the North Sound SeaWolves FC have invited 18 players back to participate in a scrimmage against Gonzaga on April 14 at Quil Ceda Stadium in Marysville (5611 108th St. N.E., Marysville, WA 98270). Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. A total of 95 players attended the two tryouts, including 45 at a March 24th tryout in Marysville.
“We were very happy with the turnout in our tryouts,” SeaWolves coach/owner Alex Silva said. “Especially at our Marysville tryout, players were very energetic, we saw good communication and a lot of effort, which was good to see.”
The SeaWolves are a member of the Premier Development League, the highest level of amateur soccer in North America. They play a 16-game season starting May 20 at Fraser Valley. The SeaWolves have an eight-game home schedule to be played at Edmonds Stadium in June.
The game against Gonzaga will be a fundraiser for Marysville Youth Soccer Association. There is a requested $5 donation for those 18 and older, those under 18 are free. Silva said playing in the scrimmage against Gonzaga doesn’t assure a player a spot on the team, it’s just another step in trying to earn a place on the roster.
“This is a great chance for me to see how these players play together in a game situation,” Silva said. “It’s also an opportunity for me to evaluate some of Gonzaga’s players. I’m really looking forward to the game and it’s a great chance to raise some money for Marysville Youth Soccer, which has been a great partner to the SeaWolves.”
