The May 2 meeting of the Regional Fire Authority Planning Committee in south Snohomish County has been canceled. In its place, a joint meeting of two RFA subcommittees will be held to discuss how to align finance and service level models for regionalizing fire and emergency medical service.
This joint meeting of the RFA subcommittees on finance and level of service will be held Wednesday, May 2, at 6 p.m., Snohomish County Fire District 1 Administrative Headquarters, 12425 Meridian Ave. S, Everett. The meeting is open to the public.
Representatives from Brier, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace, Mukilteo, Woodway and Snohomish County Fire Districts 1 and 7 have been meeting since March 2011 to explore fire service regionalization. The RFA Planning Committee, made up of three elected officials from each jurisdiction, has been gathering, analyzing and combining information from each agency on fire-service finances, budgets and operations. The RFA planning process is expected to take at least another year, and if feasible, could culminate in a public vote to create an RFA.
The next meeting of the RFA Planning Committee will be June 6, 6 p.m., at Mukilteo City Hall.
The RFA Planning Committee meets the first Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. All meetings are open to the public. The meeting location rotates among participating jurisdictions and is posted on the RFA Planning Committee website. Agendas, minutes and planning documents are also available online.
