The Regional Fire Authority Planning Committee exploring fire service consolidation in South Snohomish County will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at Lynnwood City Hall, 19100 44th Ave. W.
Brier, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace, Mukilteo, Woodway and Snohomish County Fire Districts 1 and 7 formed the exploratory RFA Planning Committee a year ago. Since then, the group made up of three elected officials from each jurisdiction has been gathering, analyzing and combining information from each agency on fire-service finances, budgets and operations. The planning process is expected to take another year, and if feasible, could culminate in a public vote to create an RFA.
The April 4 meeting will include a presentation and discussion on how to align finance and service level models for regionalizing fire and emergency medical service.
The RFA Planning Committee meets the first Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. All meetings are open to the public. The meeting location rotates among participating jurisdictions and is posted on the RFA Planning Committee website. Agendas, minutes and planning documents are also available online.
