STOP!!! Put down that grocery bag! Don’t eat that last banana! And whatever you do, keep that cork in that last wine bottle — at least until Saturday

All our businesses are important here in Edmonds, but what is the one store a town really needs to make it livable and walkable? A grocery store. I can’t imagine Edmonds without Petosa’s. This week, when the store was closed due to a sprinkler system malfunction, we didn’t have to imagine it.

Petosa’s Family Grocer at 550 5th Ave. S. has always been there for us. And now it’s time to be there for Petosa’s. Let’s see those lines in the check-out counter on Saturday and every day from now on.

Prices are very competitive — I’ve checked. Service is always good. When you add in the time and expense to drive somewhere else, it’s a real bargain.

Petosa’s has weathered some major storms: A downturn in the economy, competition up the hill, blocked access from construction and road design and now flooding from a faulty sprinkler head – up to 30,000 gallons of water!

Let’s make sure our community grocery store comes back strong and stays strong. So this Saturday, pick up those grocery bags, fill them with bananas, stock up on staples and get 10 percent off those four bottles of wine… at Petosa’s.

P.S.  Owner Betty Jo Petosa asked me to pass on that the shelves will be stocked about 95 percent of usual by Saturday and at 100 percent by Tuesday.
