E-W girls doubles team loses to Garfield; boys will represent at state

In a battle for a third berth to the state 4A girls high school tennis tournament, Edmonds-Woodway’s doubles team of Mikala Valdez and Hanna Rehnfeldt lost to Garfield High School’s Fiona Cerf and Alexia Fite, 6-2, 6-1, on Friday.

The Warriors will be represented in the state tournament, however — on the boys side. Younghan Kim and Dylan Merrill won the 4A District 1 boys championship in doubles last fall and will compete at state, which will be May 25-26 in Kennewick.
