The Edmonds-Woodway High School doubles team of Youngham Kim and Dylan Merrill ended their quest for a state tennis championship after losing twice in the 4A tournament in Richland Friday.

Kim and Merrill dropped their first match Friday morning to Andrew Bagherpour/Jacob Buckley of Union High School (Vancouver), 6-4, 7-6, then bounced back to beat Jordan Strandness/Luke Brittan of Lewis & Clark, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. In the third match, the E-W duo lost to Kentwood High School’s Alex Noyes/Paul Lennick, 6-1, 6-3.

Kim had placed fifth in state 4A doubles last year with his older brother Youngha.
