The Edmonds Planning Board was asked by the Edmonds City Council to review potential new regulations for mobile vendors operating in Edmonds. City staff drafted revisions to the current regulations regarding motorized and non-motorized vending units including the hours and places where they may be open for business.
After receiving comments from the public and reviewing the proposals, the Planning Board forwarded regulations for the council’s approval that would allow mobile vending in most locations throughout the city. Areas that would be permitted include the downtown business area, medical centers, and other publicly zoned areas as long as they have permission from the appropriate authorities.
In other discussions, the Planning Board also refined regulations for the operation of bed and breakfast businesses within the city. Sentiment favors more flexible guidelines for short-term vacation rentals and bed and breakfast operations in the Edmonds. The city council will be reviewing the board’s recommendations at upcoming meetings.
This unofficial report of the most recently completed meeting on June 13, 2012 was provided by Planning Board member Neil Tibbott. For complete details see the published minutes at www.edmondwa.gov.
What places do you think would work for Mobile Vending trucks to park and provide services in the city? What kind services would you like to see? Food, coffee… Ice Cream!
I work in the City and love the mobile food vendors. I am particularly smitten with the Japan Dog. It is a huge dog for like 3 bucks! I think the new park at Old Milltown is a perfect place for mobile food vending. I whole hardly support this recommendation by the Planning Board.
