After a nationwide search, Holy Rosary Parish in Edmonds has announced that it found the perfect principal candidate close to home. Former Edmonds School District Assistant Superintendent and School Principal Susan Venable — also a Holy Rosary parishoner — will become Holy Rosary School’s new principal Aug. 1.
Venable replaces Dr. Kathy Carr, who is retiring after leading Holy Rosary for 14 years.
Venable has 37 years of educational work experience, including service as principal of College Place Elementary School from 1996-2005 and as Edmonds School District Assistant Superintendent from 2005-2010. She retired in 2010, but has continued to volunteer as a parishioner at Holy Rosary Church.
“I am tremendously excited to have the opportunity to be the principal of Holy Rosary,” Venable said. “I believe principal leadership is key to the success of a school and student achievement, and I look forward to sharing my expertise and working collaboratively with the staff, students and parents of Holy Rosary. I can’t wait to get started!”
Venable’s professional recognitions include the KCTS Golden Apple Award for Outstanding Leadership and a Blue Ribbon Award nomination. She is a member of the Snohomish County Early Learning Coalition. She is also a longtime parishioner of Holy Rosary Church and her children graduated from Holy Rosary School.
“We could not be more excited about Sue Venable accepting the role of Holy Rosary’s new principal, “ Holy Rosary Pastor Reverend Kenneth Haydock. “She has an outstanding professional history and reputation, and we feel blessed to have found the right person here in our parish to lead our school into the next generation.”
The nationally accredited Holy Rosary School enrolls more than 220 students in pre-school through eighth grades. For more information, visit the school’s website.
Excellent choice! It would be difficult to find someone more passionate about education. We still miss Sue at CPE.
I have had the priviledge of knowing Sue Venable. You could not have chosen a better person for this job. Your kids will definitely be blessed in having her as a principal. She is one in a million!!!!
This is very good news for Holy Rosary! I have had the pleasure of serving with Sue through Rotary, and her visionary leadership supported the launch of Bottomless Backpacks Food for Youth in south Snohomish county. My children attend Holy Rosary and I couldn’t be more excited! Welcome Sue!!
Wow, did Holy Rosary and all the students and school families hit the jackpot. Congratulations Sue. It will be fun to watch you take the school to the next level and beyond.
