Scene in Edmonds: A big tow across the Sound

Ron Wambolt had his camera handy Wednesday afternoon as ships bringing oil drilling equipment to Alaska passed by Edmonds.
  1. Yep! There they go…on their way to drill in the fragile waters of the Arctic where over 400 species of migratory birds next every spring…where icebergs are melting….where any oil spills like the one in the Gulf of Mexico will be much more difficult to stop or clean up because the water is so cold. Our government and petroleum companies do not seem to care about the harms of burning fossil fuels. Record profits of oil and gas companies just are not enough; they must have more. The long-term future of this nation is is serious jeopardy because of our short-sighted policies and practices. This photo is a grim reminder of the greed of corporations who could care less about the health of the planet and her people.

  2. Oops — Two corrections of my “typo’s”

“…where over 400 species of migratory birds nest every spring…”

    and

“The long-term future of this nation is in serious jeopardy because of…”

Please excuse my bad typing. Thanks.
