Ten new members appointed to Edmonds Economic Development Commission

The Edmonds Economic Development Commission has 10 new members who were appointed at the Tuesday, June 19 meeting of the Edmonds City Council.

Joining the commission are John Rubenkonig, Councilman Frank Yamamoto appointee; Doug Purcell, Councilwoman Adrienne Fraley-Monillas appointee; John Eckert, Councilwoman Diane Buckshnis appointee; Nathan Proudfoot and Marc Knauss, Councilwoman Joan Bloom appointees; John Dewhirst and Kevin Garrett, Council President Strom Peterson appointees; and Gail Sarvis, Darlene Stern and Karen Shiveley, Mayor Dave Earling appointees.

The Commission consists of 17 members with the mayor having three appointees and each councilmember having two. It is empowered to advise and make recommendations to the mayor and city council, and as appropriate to the Edmonds Planning Commission, Architectural Design Board or other city boards or commissions on matters such as determining new strategies for economic development within the City of Edmonds and identifying new sources of revenue for City Council consideration.

The commission, which was established by the city council in June 2009, holds regular public meetings on the third Wednesday of each month. The new members will attend their first EDC meeting on Wednesday, July 18 at 6:30 pm in the Brackett Room, third floor of Edmonds City Hall, 121 5th Ave. N.
