Time to order Edmonds Kiwanis berries and benefit local children

The Kiwanis Club of Edmonds is launching its annual berry sale in June, an annual fundraiser that helps Kiwanis serve the children of the community.

The sale features mouthwatering and healthy strawberries and blueberries, fresh picked, washed and unsweetened, from “Mike and Jean’s” Berry Farm near Mount Vernon.

To order, contact the Kiwanis Club President Clayne Leitner (206-542-6351) to have an order form mailed to you. Note that the berries are preordered and prepaid only. The first deadline for ordering is June 25. Delivery dates and prices are:
Strawberries – June 28 ($31/15-lb. pail, in juice)
Blueberries – July 28 ($31/10-lb. box, dry packed)

All the profits from this annual project support Kiwanis programs for Edmonds-area children, including the purchase and distribution of dictionaries to each Edmonds third graders, and bicycle helmets for children. (Last year Kiwanis distributed 229 helmets to College Place and Chase Lake Elementary schools.) Proceeds also help fund other important services for children including; Clothes for Kids, Louie Braille School, Northwest School for the Hearing Impaired, The Little Red School House, Children’s Hospital Foundation, Dale Turner YMCA, Key Clubs at Edmonds-Woodway and Meadowdale high schools,
and student scholarships.

Leitner also invites anyone interested in joining Kiwanis to attend one of the group’s one-hour weekly midday meetings or a new evening meeting, held the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. For more information, contact him at 206-542-6351. (For
