Having left town last Friday, the Edmonds-based Miss Peters and of May unlimited hydroplane is on its way to Madison, Indiana for the first race of the 2012 season. Owners JW Myers and Scott and Shannon Raney have spent the off-season repairing and fine- tuning the boat for the upcoming season.

Entering its second season, the boat has a new paint job and will be quite an eye catcher on the 2012 Unlimited hydroplane racing circuit. Shannon Raney, who serves as team manager in addition to being one of the owners, says it is “all about visibility. Visibility not only for our sponsor but also in limited visibility situations on the race course.”

With the boat shop close to the City of Edmonds Public Works facility, the team is proud to be connected with Edmonds and hopes to promote the city at the race sites they go to this year. The team’s first year of operation, 2011, started off with small and consistent improvements until the boat ran into mechanical gremlins at its home race.

Experts predict that success will continue in 2012, with the boat expected to be in the top five all season long.
