Competing in Indiana, the Edmonds-based Miss Peters and May unlimited hydroplane started off its season on a good note Saturday. Driver J. W. Myers took the lead at the start of the first heat and held it until the boat hit a big wave in the last corner of the race. The wave caused the boat to hop and lose momentum and finish second by 60 feet in the six-mile race.
Going into the second day of the Indiana Governor’s Cup, our local hydro is tied for fourth place. The winners of the three heats today were the Miss Red Dot, who beat Miss Peters and May, the Spirit of Qatar and the Oh Boy! Oberto.
All of the boats will race in two more preliminary heats Sunday and a winner take all final which will be held at 2:10 p.m. Edmonds time.
