Edmonds Night Out at the Mariners set for Aug. 14

The Edmonds Sister City Commission invites residents to enjoy an Edmonds kind of night out at the Mariners Aug. 14 and also support the scholarship fund of the Sister City Commission.

Edmonds’ Sister City is Hekinan, Japan. Every summer, the Sister City Commission, an all-volunteer citizen effort, sends students from Edmonds to Hekinan, and hosts visiting Hekinan students to learn about Edmonds and the United States, and to share in this cultural exchange.

“This program is one of mutual learning, enjoyment and rich cultural experience,” said Yoshitake Inoue, commission chair. “Next year is the 25th anniversary of the Sister City relationship, and we would like to be able to build our scholarship fund to send students who cannot afford to go because of the cost.”

This year, the Sister City Commission is inviting the entire community to join the Japanese students as the Mariners take on the Tampa Bay Rays Tuesday, Aug. 14, starting at 7:10 pm.  Tickets are $20, and for every ticket sold, the Sister City Commission will receive $9 for the scholarship fund.
