Edmonds resident honored as he graduates from basic training

Edmonds resident Cameron Thomas Berlin-Day graduated from Army National Guard basic training on Aug. 23  at Fort Benning, GA.

Berlin-Day is the son of Janice Berlin of Edmonds and Thomas Day of Everett and a 2011 graduate of Edmonds-Woodway High School, where he was the kicker on the varsity football team during his junior and senior years.

Berlin-Day was awarded the Draper Armor Leadership Training Award for excellence in leadership of B Company 1st Battalion 81st Armor Regiment. This award was created to recognize those soldiers who have demonstrated remarkable initiative and exceptional fortitude in the areas of doctrine, tactics, training and mentorship. He was also awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Armor for “outstanding display of professionalism, motivation, performance and potential.” In addition, he acted as platoon guide.

Berlin-Day returns to Washington State University to start his sophomore year and continue his education, pursuing a liberal arts degree while drilling monthly and during the summer with the Army National Guard.
