Lynnwood police reported Tuesday that Police Officer Ryan Hoirup underwent successful surgery Monday for multiple fractures to his pelvis that he suffered from the steep fall that ensued after a struggle with a felony warrant suspect Sunday evening, Aug. 26.

‘While Officer Hoirup will have a long road to recovery, we are thankful that his condition isn’t more dire,” Lynnwood polices spokeswoman Shannon Sessions said.

Sessions noted that questions have been raised about fundraising and financial support for the Hoirup family but the department and the officer’s family haven’t started or endorsed any fundraising efforts at this time. “If that changes—we will let you know,” she said.
