Miss Peters and May fourth-fastest at Friday’s Seafair hydro qualifier

The Edmonds-based hydroplane Miss Peters and May qualified fourth fastest for this weekend’s Albert Lee Cup unlimited hydroplane race at Seafair. Driver JW Myers took the boat around the two-mile course at an average speed of just over 145 mph.

The top qualifier, the Spirit of Qatar, driven by Dave Villwock, averaged over 151 mph for his qualification attempt. Second went to the Oh Boy! Oberto driven by Steve David at just over 148 mph.

In all, 12 of the 13 boats were able to achieve qualifying speeds in excess of the 130 mph minimum.

Racing starts Saturday at 3 p.m. with one round of preliminary heats. The final two sets of preliminary heats and the final will be held on Sunday. Follow all the action here on My Edmonds News.
