Edmonds Community College hires athletic directors

Edmonds Community College has announced the hiring of Jorge de la Torre as athletic Director and Spencer Stark as the assistant athletic director.

De la Torre was previously Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations at Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) in San Diego. He worked at PLNU for 12 years.

“He has tremendous skill and talent in mentoring coaches, budget management, and event and facilities management,” said Nicola Smith, dean of Student Life and Development at Edmonds Community College. “He’s a great fit for our college. His number one priority is student success.”

De la Torre earned his Master of Arts in Sport Management at the University of San Francisco and his Bachelor of Arts in History at San Diego State University.

Stark was previously Recreation Director and served as Assistant Baseball Coach at Olympic Community College. He is currently completing his Masters of Sports Administration and Leadership Degree at Seattle University and he earned his bachelor’s in Business Management from York College in Nebraska.

“Spencer is well versed in the community college system and has great vision for athletes, coaches, intramurals, and the college,” Smith said.
