Seattle man takes first in Edmonds Half Marathon, but local runners finish strong

Samual Njenga of Seattle was the top finisher in the inaugural Edmonds Half Marathon Sunday morning, but four Edmonds residents rounded out the top five race finishers.

Njenga, age 33, completed the race with a time of 1:17:04. Finishing second was Lane Seeley, 40, of Edmonds, at 1:22:08. Rounding out the top five — all from Edmonds — were Jeffrey Martin, 48, at 1:23:01; Eric Glombecki, 30, 1:30:53 and Carol Earls, 45, the top woman finisher at 1:31:32.

In the 5K run, Edmonds residents took first through fourth places out of the top five, starting with teen brothers Tristan and Issac Mohn, who finished first and second respectively.

Tristan, 15, completed the race at 20 minutes, 57 seconds while Issac, 13, came in just behind him at 21 minutes, 13 seconds. Rounding out the top five: Mike Bawolak, Edmonds, age 60, 24:05; Michael Shouse, Edmonds, 68, 25:04 and Christel McArthur, Shoreline, 42 (the top female finisher), 25:30.
