University of Oregon marching band to perform in Edmonds Friday night

Attention Oregon Ducks fans: If you are in Edmonds Friday night, you might want to stop by the Mountlake Terrace vs. Everett football game at Edmonds Stadium (kick-off 8 p.m.). Thanks to a connection with a Mountlake Terrace High School alumnus, the 245-person University of Oregon marching band will be performing at halftime.

According to our friends at MLTnews, the Oregon band will play with the MTHS band from the stands during the first half of the game, then take the field during halftime to perform. The Ducks band is in Western Washington to perform at Saturday night’s Oregon-WSU football game at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.

The appearance by the band at Friday’s MTHS home football game was arranged by Mountlake Terrace High School alum Nathan Irby, a graduate teaching fellow for the Oregon Athletic Bands. Irby is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Music Education from the University of Oregon.

The Oregon band will end their appearance following halftime due in part to a City of Edmonds law restricting noise levels after 10 p.m. “They are going to play the first half and halftime because there is a noise ordinance in Edmonds and it’s going to be pretty loud,” explained MTHS Principal Greg Schwab.
