Warriors down Mavs 5-2 in cross-town tennis rivalry

In a non-league tennis match-up between cross-town rivals Edmonds-Woodway and Meadowdale, the Warriors came away with a 5-2 win on their home court Wednesday afternoon.

Nick Ekern got a win for the 3A Mavs at number-one singles, beating Dylan Merrill 6-7 (12-10), 6-2, 6-2. But the rest of the singles ladder belonged to 4A Edmonds-Woodway, as Jason Smarr downed Brett Matysik 6-1, 6-2; Max Terr beat Weston Carrothers 6-4, 6-0 and Eric Bryant defeated Hayden Sherrill 6-1, 6-2.

At doubles, the Warriors again lost at the number-one spot, with Meadowdale’s Bennett Holton-Jason Young beating Orion O’Malley-Nerraj Sarnaik 6-2, 3-6, 2-6.
