Cascade Symphony searching for Rising Stars

Cascade Symphony is currently accepting applications for its 2012-13 Rising Star Search, in which the winners will perform as soloists with the symphony at its Children’s Concert on Feb. 23, 2013.

The contest is a search for talented young musicians who will be age 15 or younger on the day of the concert. This year, the search is open to the following instruments: piano, viola, cello, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, trombone, and euphonium. All audition materials must be postmarked by Nov. 1, 2012.

Applicants must complete the application found on the CSO website. In addition, they must submit a CD of their performance of the concerto movement specified on the application for each instrument. The performance must be uncut, unedited and unaccompanied. There is a non-refundable application fee of $10. Finalists may be asked to audition in person, and winners will be notified by Dec. 15.

Winners must be available to rehearse with Cascade Symphony on Feb. 17, 2013 as well as for the performance on Feb. 23, 2013.  The concert will be held at the Edmonds Center for the Arts.
