Edmonds-area high school sports roundup for Wednesday


Meadowdale High School’s Nick Ekern won the 3A District 1 singles title Wednesday, defeating Jonathan Wolf of Stanwood 6-4, 6-2 in the championship match. Both players will compete in the state 3A boys tennis tournament next May.

Edmonds-Woodway 3, Cascade 1

Edmonds-Woodway highlights: Maddy Rettenmier 20 kills; Maddie Houvener 51 assists; Mikenna Vogel 10 kills. The Warriors finished the season 5-5 league, 6-8 overall.

Meadowdale 3, Glacier Peak 1

The Mavs (6-2 league, 10-4 overall) downed the Grizzlies on Glacier Peak’s home court, 24-26,  25-19,  29-27, 25-12.\

Meadowdale highlights: Carly Reece 18 kills, 15 digs, five aces; Amy Rickel 27 digs, Tara Fishback 42 assists; Sloane Morrison 11 kills.

Edmonds-Woodway 5, Lynnwood 0

The Warriors (11-3-1, 12-3-1 overall) downed the Royals in Lynnwood Wednesday night. Goals: Savanah VanCitters (E-W) 2, Rylee Peterson (E-W), Kalia Machado (E-W), Hannah Thuesen (E-W). Assists: Machado, VanCitters, Peterson 2, Lindsey Aranda (E-W) Goalkeeper: Kiera Towell
