Edmonds resident Inae Piercy, the head of Lynnwood-based Soundview School, has been awarded a fellowship by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs for the Educational Seminars Argentina Administrator Exchange Program.
The program gives selected participants the opportunity to collaborate with an Argentine educator in the United States for three weeks. A reciprocal exchange visit to Argentina is also part of the program, which will allow Piercy and her Argentinian counterpart to share school administration experiences and processes.
Piercy will be trading places with Gustavo Pizzi, school principal at Instituto Divino Corazon, a middle school in Hernado, Cordoba. The two will be collaborating on an agenda for the visit. Pizzi will be at Soundview School from Oct. 13 through Nov. 3 and Piercy will be going to Argentina in July, 2013.
“I am honored to have been selected for this prestigious national program that will help to strengthen Soundview School’s global education curriculum,” Piercy said. Having a partner school in Argentina “will further students’ ability to learn about another culture, curriculum and the importance of Spanish as their second language.”
The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs is the primary funding source and sponsor of the program.
My 2 kids are loving Mr. Pizzi!! It is very special to have him at our school.
