Updated at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday with new information, including letter from Meadowdale High School Principal Kevin Allen:
A 16-year-old former Skyline High School student living in Edmonds and attending Edmonds-Woodway High School has been arrested in connection with the online death threats that prompted the closure last month of Skyline and may also be responsible for a similar threat last spring at Meadowdale High School. our online news partner The Seattle Times reported Tuesday.
According to the Times, the King County Sheriff’s Office arrested the teen this morning at his home in Edmonds, the Sheriff’s Office announced during a news conference Tuesday afternoon at Sammamish City Hall.
During a search of the suspect’s home Tuesday, detectives seized three computers and two cell phones. The Sheriff’s Office says a forensic search of one of the computers has linked the teen to the threat.

Here’s the letter sent home today by Meadowdale principal Kevin Allen:
Dear Meadowdale Families,
As many of you are aware, our school community experienced a canceled day of school last spring due to a threat against our students and staff. A similar threat occurred several weeks ago at Skyline High School in the Issaquah area. Today, Sammamish Police arrested a 16-year-old on charges of cyber-stalking and harassment in connection with the Skyline incident.
Sammamish detectives also found evidence suggesting that the same suspect was involved with a similar threat against Meadowdale High School in Lynnwood last spring. This suspect hasn’t been arrested or charged with the Meadowdale incident in Lynnwood. Lynnwood Police Detectives have been in contact with Sammamish Police on this case and will continue to follow-up with them. The 16-year-old is a former Skyline High student who has been attending Edmonds-Woodway High. Because of the charges he faces at this time, he has been emergency expelled.
Please let me know if you have questions.
Kevin Allen
Principal
