A 68-year-old reportedly suicidal Edmonds man was transported to Harborview Medical Center Friday afternoon following a police pursuit from Edmonds to Bothell that ended with gunshots.
According to a news release from the Snohomish County Multiple Response Team, Edmonds police officers were dispatched after an Edmonds woman reported that her husband was suicidal and had left the house with a weapon. Officers located the man’s silver GMC Sierra at the intersection of State Route 104 and Interstate 5, where they attempted to stop the vehicle.
The driver wouldn’t stop and spike strips were deployed along Hwy 522 in Bothell, the news release said. The damaged vehicle turned onto 96th Ave Northeast and eventually came to a stop, and police report that shots were fired at the scene. It wasn’t immediately known if the injuries were self-inflicted, police spokesman Aaron Snell said.
No additional injuries were reported. The man was undergoing surgery Friday night and his condition was unknown.
Officers from three agencies — Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace and Bothell — were involved in the response.
