I should also be noted that Reliable Floors occupies one of Edmonds’ premier historic buildings. Constructed in 1891 as the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) hall, the building served for many years as a town meeting hall, and was a center of civic activity in late-nineteenth and early-twentieth century Edmonds. The building also housed Edmonds’ first movie theater from 1909 to 1911, at which time the Princess Theatre opened two blocks west. The building was added to the Edmonds Register of Historic Places in December, 2008, and was the subject of the September 2009 issue of The Preservationist, the newsletter of the Edmonds Historic Preservation Commission.
