Man taken to Harborview after van-pedestrian accident in Edmonds Tuesday

Updated at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday with new information from Edmonds police.

A 55-year-old Edmonds man was taken to Harborview Medical Center after he was struck by a van while crossing 76th Avenue West near Highway 99  in Edmonds Tuesday night.

According to Edmonds Police spokesman Sgt. Mike Blackburn, police were called to the scene at 4:46 p.m. The victim was attempting to cross 76th between the Ranch 99 Market shopping center and the Union 76 gas station when he was struck by the van, driven by a 20-year-old man from Edmonds.  There is no crosswalk at that location.

The victim was transported to Harborview with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes.

The driver of the motor vehicle was not injured. The collision remain under investigation.

  1. There is currently no way to walk from Ranch 99 to the Union 76 station using crosswalks, no matter how many miles you are willing to walk. That will change when the upcoming 228th crossing project is completed.
