Fire District 1 employees donate $10,000 to VOA Food Bank in Everett

The Fire 1 Foundation has given a $10,000 donation to Volunteers of America food banks, just in time to help meet increased holiday need. “This is absolutely wonderful,” said William Raihl, VOA’s Chief Advancement Officer. “It comes at the best possible time for us. We appreciate the support of our local firefighters, who already give so much to the community every day.”

The Fire 1 Foundation is the giving branch of Snohomish County Fire District 1, one of the largest fire departments in the state. They provide fire services to both Edmonds and Mountlake Terrace. The foundation was started by employees of the fire district to give back to their community.

Volunteers of America Western Washington operates four food banks: in Everett (which is also a central distribution point for other food banks in the county); in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood, in Sultan, and the newest food bank in Mill Creek, which opened earlier this year. VOAWW also operates a variety of other human service programs to help the most vulnerable people in the community.
